Most of you know that Seminary Dropout is a very DIY operation, so in that spirit you’ll notice that I don’t have a high-resolution photo of the shirt, and no fulfillment center, just me putting your shirt in a container and shipping it to you.
Be the coolest kid on the block with a Seminary Dropout T-shirt. These are soft just how you like them. Get one now while they last.
Father Factor: American Christian Men on Fatherhood and Faith
You may have heard around the blogosphere and social media sites about ‘Father Factor’. A friend of mine, Andy Campbell, is the editor and gathered 40 men, including myself, to write essays about fatherhood as a Christian.
This is an excert from my essay:
Why I have been afraid of inviting you into the same wonderful mystery I have found, I do not know. Perhaps it’s because I have heard that children need security and consistency, but maybe just knowing that Jesus is who he says is, that he loves you, and I do too, is the most secure and consistent feeling in which you could peacefully rest.
As for the rest of it, the wonderful sea of mystery; I’ve decided that we can explore it together, you, me, your mother, and the family that God has given us.
By the time you are able to read this you will have learned that doing things in a timely fashion is not your father’s forte, so you will understand that even this short letter has taken me over a month to write. In that time your mother and I have learned that you are a girl. You are my precious baby Margot, and we have seen your sweet face for the first time thanks to the miracle of three-dimensional sonograms. We’re so excited for your arrival. You are teaching me about Jesus even now because I am already enamored and in love with you even though you have completed no tasks to earn my favor other than existing and belonging to me.
